Electrical installation
3. Switch on the PC and power supply to the SICK Connection Module.
4. Set the communication parameters (see Chapter 10.6.3 Starting CLV-Setup,
Page 10-46).
Tip
In the default configuration, the auxiliary interface outputs the reading result in reading
diagnosis mode.
You can change the operating mode to M
ONITOR HOST INTERFACE, to MONITOR HOST INTERFACE 2,
A
UXILIARY INPUT or EXTERNAL DATA STRING INPUT on the AUXILARY INTERFACE tab in the "CLV-
Setup" program.
5.5.7 Connecting the "Sensor" switching input
If a reading procedure is to be triggered on the CLV490 by an external sensor, the reading
pulse sensor must be connected to the "Sensor" switching input. This trigger type is select-
ed in the default setting of the CLV490. Fig. 5-5 shows the connections for the "Sensor"
switching input. Table 5-23 contains the characteristic data for this input.
¾ Connect the reading pulse sensor as shown in Fig. 5-5.
Tip
You can change the switching mode (polarity, debouncing, response for first pulse after
power-up) of the "S
ENSOR" switching input on the DEVICE CONFIGURATION tab in the "CLV-
Setup" program.
¾ Click the R
EADING TRIGGER PARAMETERS button.
Enter the values in the dialog box displayed.
Perform a download to the CLV490.

Switch
PNP sensor
Switching mode Current at the input starts the reading interval on the CLV490.
(default: active high, debouncing: 20 to 30 ms (standard))
Properties – optodecoupled, non-interchangeable
– can be connected to PNP output on a sensor
