Operation
6.5.13 Self-test
After the CLV490 has been switched on, it performs a self-test before it is initialized with the
parameter set. The test can be called up explicitly at any time via CLV-Setup. During the self-
test, the CLV490 checks that its hardware components are functioning correctly. A final
message via the auxiliary interface provides information on the test result. The CLV490
does not output a reading result during the test routine.
1. Click in the toolbar.
The Terminal Emulator window is then displayed. The CLV490 is in the Reading mode.
2. In the D
EVICE MODE section, choose SELF TEST.
The "Device Ready" LED is extinguished. The CLV490 cancels the Reading mode and
starts the test routine.
After a few seconds, the CLV490 outputs the encoded test result in the form of a code
number (Fig. 6-19).
3. To return to the Reading mode, click R
EADING MODE or close the Terminal Emulator.
The CLV490 then returns to the Reading mode and the "Device Ready" LED lights up.
The code number ”15000” means that the self-test was completed successfully and that
no faults were diagnosed. Chapter 8.3.1 CLV490 without external parameter memory,
Page 8-2, lists the error keys together with the associated corrective measures.
